Restaurant Review: Galli

Details: Located at 45 Mercer St, New York, NY 10013. Official site is

I’ve been to this restaurant a few times now and the main reason for this is because of my friend, the level 8 vegan. Galli not only makes good pasta, it can make it gluten free and vegan enough for level 9000 vegans. They also do whole wheat pasta.

Galli has two locations. I went to the Soho one. It’s a comfortable, cozy space with exposed brick.

The staff was friendly.

Since coming here, the Amatriciana (rigatoni, onions, pancetta, filetto pomodoro), Carbonara (spaghetti, panceta, egg, pecorino, cream, peas), Primavera (penne, vegetables, pomodoro), Polpette (spaghetti, meatballs), and the Bolognese (rigatoni, meat sauce) have all been tried. Everything was very simple, straightforward, and very good. It isn’t complex food, just tasty.

They also make decent drinks. I had an old fashioned that wasn’t bad.

Score: 7/10 This is a great place for when you need a decent place to eat with your vegan/gluten-free friends while you want to eat something with meat in it. Even if your not a vegan, it’s still a great place to get some good pasta.
