Ultra Spicy is yet another numbing spicy place in Flushing that is all too trendy among Chinese restaurants. This place wasn’t great and I definitely don’t recommend it to people who don’t speak Mandarin Chinese.
I came and ordered the dry vegetable and meat hot pot. Dry hot pot is essentially a really spicy stir fry (emphasis on the Sichuan numbing spice). I was really in the mood for it which was unfortunate in that they gave me wet hot pot or soup. I also purchased some fish cake add ons and tofu skin add on… which I got… in addition to all the other add ons on the menu. Which makes me think that they just made whatever they wanted and that I should have just not ordered any add ons. In total, it cost around fifteen dollars, which is a lot for Flushing prices. The hot pot itself is eleven dollars while each add on was two dollars.
The food was meh. Spicy and numbing. The price was too expensive and they didn’t even give me what I wanted. I spoke English, which I think was the source of the problem. No on here speaks English so prepare yourself for that. A friend of mine came here and got exactly what he wanted… so it’s pretty much a crap shoot you’ll get what you ordered.
Overall, avoid this place. There are plenty of other dry hot pot places that are cheaper or higher quality or will actually get your order right. Don’t come here unless you speak Chinese. Even then, the food wasn’t great.
