This place is just a small food stall that sells these sweet, dessert cakes filled with some sweet fillings. It’s pretty damn good actually and delicious when eaten hot and freshly made, which they always are since they are made to order. All items on the menu are priced two for $5.

I was wandering around a Chinese supermarket looking for a snack when I saw this and decided to give it a try. I’ve had similarly packaged snacks before and they are freaking spicy. This was as spicy as I expected.

Snack Review: Clif Bar

20190510_101021

Details: Official site is https://www.clifbar.com/

In my opinion, the Clif bar is the default energy/wellness bar that I recommend when anyone wants to eat one. The great deception with these types of bars is that they have some sort of health benefit. They do not. The other implication is that this can act as a meal replacer, which again, it cannot. It doesn’t have the proper nutrition for that. These are deceptions of its marketing.

The ideal scenario for eating something like this is if you are hiking somewhere, there is no food in sight and you are desperate for something to eat. There is no reason to eat something like this unless you are desperate. There is too much calories and sugar to healthily eat this and similar products as a snack. The taste also isn’t magnificent.

With that said, this is probably the best tasting “energy bar” on the market. It is also the best priced as most competitor products are at least slightly more expensive.

In conclusion, if you want to eat energy/wellness bars, Clif Bars are the best option. Otherwise, I advise anyone interested in these types of products or who stupidly believes there is any health benefits to similar products to avoid these things. They aren’t good for you and fresh food is usually healthier and tastes better.

Snack Review: Lara Bar

Lara Bar is yet another “wellness bar.” I’ve reviewed a bunch of these already and I’m starting to get the idea. These are high calorie snack bars that imply they are healthy, but are carefully worded so as to not be legally liable for actually having any health properties. In reality, this is just a calorie and sugar bomb in a bar. With that in mind, you’d think they could make this taste better. This thing was catastrophic for my teeth. It’s sticky and sugary and yet still doesn’t taste good. It’s also slightly more expensive than a Clif Bar, which tastes better. I would avoid this thing for the sake of your physical and dental health.

Snack Review: Samyang Carbo Hot Chicken Flavor Ramen

20190520_173437

Details: The company’s official site is https://www.samyangfoods.com/eng/index.do

Samyang’s Carbo Hot Chicken Flavor Ramen combines the ridiculously hot flavor of their spicy ramen with powdered cheese. The result is a cheesy, burning hot bowl of stir fried noodles.

This stuff is hot, which is the worst part about it. You can’t really taste the cheese. Personally, I hold back on using the whole packet because the cheesy part is pretty good.

Overall, it’s kind of a waste to mix any other flavors along with the spiciness of Samyang’s spicy ramen. That stuff is just too spicy to be able to enjoy the taste of anything other than the spice. You either buy some cheesy ramen or you buy the spicy ramen, not both.
