Peter Luger Steakhouse is an institution in New York City. It’s been around a long time and set the standard for New York City steakhouses. I came by with muted expectations and got exactly what I expected. Peter Luger is a decent steakhouse with mediocre sides and decent prices considering the product they sell and what their competitors price their steaks at.

Del Frisco’s Double Eagle Steakhouse is a high-end steakhouse with good regular steaks, dry aged steaks, and even high end Wagyu. I came here mostly to try a good quality, dry aged steak since I’ve never had it before. Unfortunately, my expectations were unreasonably high and high end, dry aged steak is still just steak.

Outback Steakhouse is a chain of casual steakhouse restaurants with a lot of locations all over the place. I’ve been here a couple of times and I’d probably rank it above Applebee’s but below Texas Roadhouse.

Ikinari Steak is the latest, trendy import from Japan. This place has been all over social media and the food blogs. The idea is that you get good quality steak, fast. And you don’t get to sit down. They have standing tables. Luckily, the hype around eating steak while standing as well as how packed the place was has died down and I got to eat in a less crowded Ikinari Steak while sitting down.
