Restaurant Review: Fuddruckers

Details: Located at 350 Trolley Line Blvd, Mashantucket, CT 06338. Official site is https://order.fuddruckers.com/merchants/106970?order_type=pickup

Fuddruckers is a chain of fast food restaurants that mostly makes burgers. They also have other sandwiches, desserts and salads.

I got the bourbon burger with fries. It was okay. What was nice and also kind of gross was that they had all the condiments and sauces on the side for customers to get. That means you can get as much as you want… but each customer can get their grubby little hands on them and contaminate the whole lot of it.

The total price was somewhere between ten to fifteen dollars. It’s kind of expensive and priced in the same range as places like Five Guys. It was a decent burger, but too expensive for what they sold. Five Guys is better in my opinion and the serving size at Five Guys is larger.

Overall, this place was okay, but you’re better off going to Five Guys or some place superior to Five Guys.

Restaurant Review: Lucky’s Famous Burgers

Details: Located at 370 W 52nd St, New York, NY 10019. Official site is https://www.luckysfamousburgers.com/

Lucky’s Famous Burgers sells burgers. Duh. Unfortunately, with competitors like Shake Shack that sell a superior tasting burger at a lower price, there’s not reason to ever visit a place like Lucky’s unless you’re drunk and it’s the only place open nearby.

I ordered the number one combo, which was a cheddar burger with fries and a fountain soda for almost thirteen dollars after tax. The burger was fine. Fries were okay. It just cost a lot for something of this quality.

Overall, this place was fine, but really expensive for what it’s selling. If you want a quality burger, just go to Shake Shack.

Restaurant Review: Steak ‘n Shake

As far as I know, this is the only Steak ‘n Shake in New York City. A friend from the midwest was extolling the virtues of this place so I decided to give it a try.

Restaurant Review: In-N-Out Burger

Details: Located at 3102 Sports Arena Blvd, San Diego, CA 92110. The official site is http://www.in-n-out.com/

I’ve finally visited the much vaunted In-N-Out Burger. As an east coaster, I’ve never really had the chance to try In-N-Out.

I ordered the Double-Double (cheeseburger with two beef patties, lettuce, tomato, and mayo) and the animal style fries (“secret” but not so secret fries topped with chopped grilled onions and a thousand island type sauce). The burger was under $4.00 and the fries were under $4.00, too.

When it comes to burgers, Shake Shack is usually the hamburger I use to compare with other burgers and currently my favorite fast casual burger in New York. Compared to Shake Shack, the Shake Shack burger comes out slightly on top. The fries were about as good as Shake Shack.

However, when considering the price, In-N-Out is easily superior to Shake Shack. Everything at Shake Shack costs around five to ten dollars. The fact that In-N-Out can price a fast casual burger and fries at under four dollars a piece is nothing more than miraculous.

Overall, the taste and quality of the burger and fries at Shake Shack and In-N-Out are about the same. When price is considered however, In-N-Out is clearly far better than Shake Shack. It’s a shame then that In-N-Out is a west coast thing and will likely not be coming to the east coast in the future to compete with Shake Shack.

Restaurant Review: The Counter

Details: Located at 7 Times Square, New York, NY 10036. Official site is http://www.thecounterburger.com/NYC-TimesSquare/

I’ve been to almost all the fast casual burger places in New York City, so when I came across The Counter, I figured I’d give it a shot.

First thought I had was, like the last two posts, that this was tourist trap. It’s right in the middle of Times Square and most of the people in here were obvious tourists. Oh well. I bought the Counter Burger (all natural beef, provolone, tomatoes, lettuce blend, fried onion strings, sautéed mushrooms, garlic aioli, brioche bun) with some shoestring fries. It was just okay.

Place was a little pricey for hamburgers. The Counter Burger was $15.50 and the fries were $3.50. Not as overpriced as Burger Joint, but close.

The interior was fine. I imagine it would be insanely packed during normal meal times. I did not come here during normal meal times.

The service was okay. They messed up my order and forgot my fries, despite charging me for it and putting it on my receipt.

Score: 4.8/10 If you want a good, fast-casual burger in New York City, just go to Shake Shack. It’s probably the best option.
