Jollibee is a fast food franchise that is really popular in the Philippines. In the tri-state area, there are only two. One is in New Jersey, the other is in Woodside, NY.

They generally serve the following foods: burgers and sandwiches, Filipino sweet drinks, fried chicken, and platters like Filipino spaghetti or hamburger steak. I ordered the C1 meal, which is a leg and thigh of fried chicken that comes with a side, gravy, and a drink. I got corn. I also got a peach mango pie. The food was okay and what you’d expect from a fast food place. The peach mango pie is something I’d expect to eat from McDonald’s. The side of corn likely came from a can. In total, it cost a little under $9, tax included.

I was reading some stuff about this place online and there seems to be a passionate following for this franchise. I imagine that most of the people in that group are Filipino and likely get a healthy dose of nostalgia and Filipino pride when eating it. I am not Filipino and I did not get any nostalgia or feelings of patriotism from my fried chicken. I found the food mediocre.
